Pasta is no longer just Italian or Western food. Rather it is quite popular in different countries of Asia. It has taken place as a favorite food on many plates.



The name Pasta comes from the name ‘Pasti’ made from Durum wheat flour. Pasta is a popular food all over the world. It is one of the staple foods in Germany and Hungary. Pasta originates from Italy. In northern Italy, however, flour and eggs are used to make yeast. In southern Italy, a mixture of high quality semolina and water is used. The best quality pasta in Italy is made in the Emilia Romagna region.

Varieties of pasta




There are more than 200 different shapes of pasta in the world. Pasta is basically of two types. Dried and fresh. Dried pasta is bought from the market, fresh pasta is made at home. Aldant in Italian means it will not be too hard or too soft after cooking. It will feel a little stiff when chewing or can be chewed gently. As a result, pasta takes time to be digested and the stomach stays full for a long time. Macaroni, Spaghetti, Milini, Rafioli, Rigatoni A variety of dried pasta can be eaten separately. Homemade pasta is made by mixing eggs with flour and making yeast and boiling it in different shapes. This fresh pasta is softer and makes half the time than dry pasta.

The use of pasta and cooking techniques

Different types of pasta are used differently. Pasta is usually cooked in three ways. The first method is served with pasta askita or pastasichuta sauce or spices. Depending on the size, shape and weight, different types of pasta are paired with different sauces. There are some pastas that are good to eat with certain sauces. Large, flattened or cylindrical pasta is best eaten with white sauce. White sauce requires butter, flour, milk and white pepper powder. Kapunti (like empty pea peel) with tomato sauce.



Spaghetti (tall but heavy like noodles), macaroni, casseroles (English S-shaped), cavatelli (like a palm bean), censioni (like petals), conchigli (like a shell of a sea snail) are good sizes to eat with tomato sauce. You can also serve with mushrooms, sausage, bacon, spinach, chicken or vegetables. To make pasta sauce you need tomato paste, olive oil, onion, garlic, oregano, black pepper powder. If the size of pasta is heavy, thick sauce and if the size of pasta is thin, thin sauce keeps the taste of pasta correct.




It can also be eaten as a soup

The second method is pasta in broth which is made like soup. Small size pastas like Orzo, Buko, Ravivioli, Rotini, Tortelini etc. are good to eat in this way. Pasta that is made at home is more fun to eat like soup. It tastes great to eat small pasta soup like chicken dumplings puree.




Oven-baked pasta

The third method is al forno which is spread in a baking dish and baked in a mixture of spices, cheese and sauce. Pasta like Rigatoni, Fusili, Cavatapis lasania, GT are eaten in this way. Pasta is also eaten as a salad. It comes with boiled pasta with a variety of salad-vegetables, such as cucumber, tomato, green pea, olive pieces and with olive oil, basil, coriander, mint leaves. Eating pasta every day improves digestion. It also helps in controlling blood sugar levels as well as adequate sources of vitamins and minerals. This pasta rich in carbohydrates and protein can therefore be eaten as an alternative to rice.
